Expressions of Interest are now closed for 2025.

The John James Foundation has once again joined forces with Hands Across Canberra and The Snow Foundation to deliver a collaborative grant round to distribute $1,000,000 in grants to the Canberra community sector.

Grant Process

We have a two-step process:

1: Submit an Expression of Interest online via the Hands Across Canberra portal (written or video). Link to portal.
Expressions of Interest opened on 4 February and closed on 4 March 2025.

2: Invitation to submit an application.
Once Foundations have reviewed the Expressions of Interest, selected organisations will be invited to submit a full application.
Full applications will be open on 26 March and close on 17 April 2025.

From there each Foundation will follow their own process of assessment and approval with announcements being made in June 2025.

Information sessions

Two online information sessions will be held in the lead up to the grant round with dated to be confirmed in early 2025. A representative from each foundation will be availbale at these sessions to provide an overview of the process and answer any queries.

Eligibility

All initiatives must be for Canberra and/or the surrounding region.

Grants are intended for community organisations and social enterprises working with socially disadvantaged and vulnerable groups including at-risk children, youth, young people, women, men, and elderly persons; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, precariously employed people, unemployed people, prisoners, domestic violence victims and perpetrators, homeless people, persons with a disability, persons identifying as LGBTIQ+ among others.
