About the Collaboration

The Canberra Foundations Collaborative (CFC) is a partnership between local community foundations: Hands Across Canberra (which administers the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund), the Snow Foundation, and the John James Foundation. The Aspen Foundation also supports the collaboration. Each year the Foundations run a major grant round in Autumn and collaborate, share knowledge and co-fund.

In 2022, we launched the inaugural CFC grant round to create a sinplified and central process for community-focused organisations to apply for funding from a number of foundations to save on time and resources. For the John James Foundation, most grants are under $50,000 with some multi-year agreement options. We prioritise funding initiatives that improve health and wellbeing outcomes in Canberra.

2025 marks the fourth year of running a collaborative grant round with Expressions of Interest opening on 4 February.

This collaborative approach to philanthropic grant making provides a shared understanding of the areas of greatest need in our community.

Each partner foundation considers and funds projects in their specific focal areas which complement each other and are noted here:
