Our Members

The Foundation has a membership of over 160 specialist Canberra doctors who are committed to the objectives and activities of the Foundation.

Many Foundation Members take part in the Volunteer Specialist Program (VSP).  The VSP supports the provision of healthcare services to remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and to the Solomon Islands.  Foundation members give their valuable time as specialist volunteers to provide medical services that are not otherwise available in remote and disadvantaged locations. Members seek to mentor and educate local medical services whilst providing direct clinical treatments and operations.

Foundation Members also support the clinical placement program for final year medical students from Queensland’s James Cook University. The placement of up to four participants gives students hands-on experience with Canberra-based consultants and Foundation Members, while also providing the opportunity to experience and contribute to student learning.

The Foundation also provides scholarships for indigenous medical students to pursue careers in the health sector.
